Happy Valentine’s Day to my Secret Valentine, @Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie!
Also: thanks to @adventure_rules from the Adventure Rules blog for putting this event together!
Pix1001 is pure passion and creativity. I’ve recently had the pleasure of reading through some of her posts and the one that first stood out to me was a post titled “My favorite Game for Every Year I’ve Been Alive.” Having just finished my own post for this community event, I was intrigued. So I opened it up and read through every game listed.
As I finished her post, I felt a few things bubble up all at once:
- Amazement that two people with similar timelines could have such different lists! There were some games on Pix1001’s list that I hadn’t even heard of, much less played. Different is good though. I spend so much time playing and writing about my own games that, inevitably, I end up reading about them too. Pix1001’s favorite games represent genres that I haven’t paid as much attention to. After reading her writing, I’m compelled to explore a bit.
- Pix wrote about games that she hadn’t played either, but she wrote about them with such excitement that I felt like I had to play them too!
- I had to read more posts!
So I went back into her blog and read up on her participation in another community event that invited her to creatively respond to game related prompts. An example of one of these prompts was: “You’re designing a video game and the main character needs to be created. Describe your main character. What 3 power ups or abilities would you choose for the character and why?”
Pix1001 goes on to describe a character named Osha. Based off the description, Osha strikes me as a powerful lead female character with a bad ass sort of attitude that says “I’m ready for anything”. To further cement that image, Pix1001 picks the powers of Invincibility, Haste and Healing for Osha. This character sounds like a one woman bad-guy-butt-kicking machine!
Pix1001, please let me know when you make your first game – especially if it’s about Osha. I’d love to play 🙂
Happy Valentine’s day and I can’t wait to read more!
